Dental Tourism CR started as a content site helping patients understand their options in Costa Rica. Seven years later it has become a platform that aligns its revenue with patient outcomes: clinics pay us only after a patient is actually treated, and optionally a flat monthly subscription that lowers their commission and expands their profile. Neither one moves a clinic up in a patient match.

Our mission
The United States has a dental care affordability crisis. A single dental implant costs $4,500 to $6,000. An All-on-4 arch costs $25,000 to $35,000. Tens of millions of Americans delay or avoid treatment because of cost alone. Costa Rica offers the same Nobel Biocare implant systems, the same e.max veneers, the same trained specialists at 60 to 75 percent less.
The problem was never the quality of care in Costa Rica. The problem was that patients had no reliable way to know which clinics to trust. Dental Tourism CR exists to solve that problem.
We verify clinics before they are listed. We enforce 24-hour response times. We confirm that every review comes from a patient who completed treatment through our platform. We publish negative reviews. We remove clinics that fail our standards regardless of their subscription revenue.
Every design decision in this platform follows a single rule: if it is good for the patient, it is good for the platform.

Algorithm matches to verified clinics
A scoring model weighs treatment match, budget fit, trust score based on verified reviews, priority alignment, location and availability. Subscription tier is not part of the score. Top 3 matches presented with full profiles.
Patient requests quotes
Clinic receives the patient profile and responds with a written itemized quote within 24 hours. All communication happens inside the platform so we can enforce standards.
Treatment happens, then we invoice
The patient pays the clinic directly. Once a visit is completed we accrue a commission of 1-5% on the amount treated, depending on the clinic subscription tier, and invoice the clinic monthly. If the patient declines or never travels, nothing is charged. No pressure, no follow-up spam.
Post-treatment review
At 30 days and 6 months after treatment, we send the patient a review request. Reviews are manually verified before publishing. They appear on the clinic profile permanently.
Our standards
Credential verification
All listed dentists must hold a valid Costa Rica Colegio de Cirujanos Dentistas registration. Specialists in implantology, oral surgery, and prosthodontics must demonstrate post-graduate credentials.
Implant brand documentation
Clinics must use Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Zimmer Biomet, or Hiossen implant systems and provide written documentation including brand, model, and lot number to every patient.
Response time enforcement
Verified clinics must respond to all new patient inquiries within 24 hours. Consistent non-response results in lead routing to competing clinics and eventual listing suspension.
Equipment verification
Clinics must have an in-house cone beam CT scanner. Outsourcing diagnostic imaging is a disqualifying factor. Digital impressions and in-house labs are preferred.
Verified reviews only
Reviews are accepted only from patients who completed treatment through a conversation on this platform. Patient identity and treatment history are verified before any review is published.
No paid placements
Clinic ranking within search results is determined exclusively by trust score, response rate, and treatment match. Subscription tier affects profile features, not search position.

Dental Tourism CR has been connecting US and Canadian patients with verified Costa Rican dental clinics since 2017. The platform was built from a website that has been ranking for dental tourism Costa Rica keywords since its founding and has helped thousands of patients find the right clinic at a price they could afford.
Two revenue streams, both billed only to clinics. First, a commission of 1-5% depending on the clinic’s subscription tier, charged after the patient is treated rather than when a quote is accepted. Second, optional monthly subscriptions ($149 for Pro, $399 for Elite) for clinics that want a lower commission, advanced analytics, dedicated support and, on Elite, labelled promotional spots and a direct contact form on their profile. None of it buys position in a patient match. Directory and Basic clinics pay no monthly fee. Patients pay nothing to use the platform. Clinics that receive verified quality complaints lose their listing regardless of commission or subscription revenue.
Three things: rankings that are never sold, mandatory 24-hour response time enforcement, and post-treatment verification for all reviews. Other platforms let clinics buy their way up the results. We do not: subscription tier plays no part in how a patient match is scored. Paid promotional spots exist on treatment and article pages, always labelled as such, and never inside a match result.
Every clinic goes through an onboarding process that includes credential verification for all listed dentists, in-person or virtual facility review, review of sterilization and infection control protocols, and confirmation of implant brand partnerships with Nobel Biocare, Straumann, or Zimmer Biomet. Clinics are re-evaluated annually.
Our coordination team is distributed between the United States and Costa Rica. Patient coordinators based in San Jose provide on-the-ground support for patients during their visits. The platform operations team works across both countries.
